USSA?
Rarely have Americans been so unified. We can't think of a single state government, or corporation which has come forward without qualification and said, "No! We do not want the federal government to take us over." Could it be that we've become the United Socialist States of America?
Too Big to Jail?
A man swindles 50 billion and the Feds can find no way to put him in jail, adding yet more enigma to the enigma known as Bernie Madoff. When you think of the piddling amounts that send people to jail everyday, it makes you wonder...can you be Too Big to Jail?

Just Dandy
Michael Murphy, George Will, David Brooks, Christopher Buckley, Tucker Carlson, Colin Powell...
Blowing the smoke from the barrel of his gun, Ringo Murphy said McCain lost the election the moment he picked Palin. With equal dispatch, the impeccable George Will held-forth in a DC backroom that Governor Palin was "obviously not qualified to be President." David Brooks, the eminent oncologist at the NYTimes, pronounced Palin "a cancer on the republican party." That randy bounder, Christopher Buckley says he's voting for Obama because, "that guy is a good writer!" Tucker reveals there's no October surprise, it's over. Oki doki, TC. Colin Powell, that famous character witness for Senator Stevens, testifies that "Obama will be transformational." (at last, the truth!)
All their analyses are like, so deep but is that the common thread? Or, is it that they're all republicans? Wait...wait...suddenly, it hits you: doggone it, just exactly like Joe Biden, they're all Dandys!
You can't make this stuff up.

Symbolic Politique
Sarah Palin draws republican crowds like no one since Ronald Reagan. Yet, she so unnerves conservative elites, they've been reduced to tourettes-like outbursts ("Step down!") along with conceited critiques ("Palin's Failin'").
This raises an interesting question, "What's preventing even a former Reagan staffer from believin' what she's seein'?"

Are We Better Off Today?

Dr. Lence would often roll out his map of the world and ask some poor student, "MISS-ter So-and-so, would you please come up here and show us where [insert name of country] is?" It was only somewhat better for you if you could complete the task but either way, your trouble had only just begun. The point of this theater was to demonstrate that the geopolitical makes mush of conventional wisdom.
Today, nothing is more conventional than to say the Iraq war was a mistake. If Dr. Lence were with us today, he'd roll out his map of the Middle East and ask, "Are we not better off today, than if we'd never gone to Iraq?"
Are All The Bozos Under The Bus?
Jeremiah Wright, Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, ACORN, and Grandma...can the vegetable-shaped holograms be far behind?
